Who is tax resident in Sweden?

Any of three tests makes someone fully liable on worldwide income: a real home in Sweden with population registration, a stay of six consecutive months (short trips abroad do not break it), or a substantial connection kept after moving away.

The trap to know

Moving out does not automatically end liability. A Swedish citizen, or anyone who lived in Sweden for ten years, must show for five years after departure that no substantial connection remains, and a single factor such as a year-round home or a family left behind can be enough.
