Who is tax resident in Greece?
Physical presence in any 12-month period is the main test, and where it does not settle things, the tax authority looks at the centre of vital interests: permanent home, habitual abode and overall personal and economic ties. A bilateral treaty can override both.
The trap to know
Spending habits can raise the tax bill. Taxpayers are expected to pay electronically for 30% of actual income, capped at €20,000; any shortfall is added to the tax at 22%, and the 5A flat tax gives no credit for foreign tax paid.
