Who is tax resident in Cyprus?
More than 183 days in a calendar year is enough on its own. The 60-day route also requires at least 60 days in Cyprus, no more than 183 days in any other single state, a job, business or directorship in Cyprus that lasts through the year, and a permanent home there, owned or rented.
The trap to know
The 60-day status depends on the Cypriot activity lasting. The Tax Department's return guide says a person whose business stops or whose job ends during the year ceases to count as resident for that year, so a mid-year resignation can undo the whole position. The rule needs a real home and a real role: days alone do not make someone resident.
